Problem:

Every girl knows how frustrating it is to straighten your hair. But, we all love that finished look our hair has after we straighten it. Although the process takes forever and we have deal with our irons turning off, and then waiting for it to heat up all over again. We also have to deal with those annoying painful burns. Those are the worst part; just the other day I clipped my hand instead of my hair. Sometimes ill even set my iron down, and step on it and burn my foot. The Safe Heat Iron now easily solves all of these problems.

Idea Generation:

Because of the problems with irons and them burning customers I have come up with the Safe Heat Iron. The iron is designed to only heat up when it touches your hair. As soon as the iron leaves your hair it automatically turns it temperature off to where you can safely touch the plates. This will prevent those nasty burns. But, will also allow you to efficiently straighten your hair because no matter how long your iron sits our you just have to touch it to your hair and it fully heat back up to 450 degrees.

Idea Screening:

Before marketing this product, there needs to be a demand for the Safe Heat Iron. In fact a demand for a safer iron is extremely high. According to Sciencedirect.com In 2006 64% (2o cases) were reported to have! % Hand service burns. 74%(21 cases) were partial thickness burns, full thickness and deep burns accounted for 10% (1 case). These percentages have gone down but The Safe Heat Iron would drastically drop these percentages. A reasonable price or this iron would run between $40-$50. For the safety of the consumer and others the safe heat is a great product.

Business Analysis:

Demand- the demand for the Safe heat would be extremely high. The consumer knows that with this iron you would be able to protect yourself from burns while straightening your hair. You would also be able to straighten your hair more efficiently, because you won’t have to worries about your iron turning on and off and waiting for it to heat up again.

Consumer Benefits- the consumer will no longer be burnt while trying to straighten their hair.

Risk Failure – With any type of product there is a risk for failure. The risk that you could face with this product is it not heating fully at first when touching the consumer’s hair.

Development- Chi is the number one selling Hair Iron out on the market. To develop my product I would go to the company and discuss my idea of making a safer product for their consumers. If the company were on board we then would discuss how the medal plates would be able to activate while touching the consumers hair.

Test Marketing: in order to test this product the company could test the product in cosmetology schools and see if upcoming stylist like the idea of no longer burning their hands.
